Hello, and welcome to Proffmatt.com
I’m Adetunji Matthew, the person behind this blog, Proffmatt.com also know as profmattblog.com
This is my 4th website, 2 blog websites and 2 WooCommerce site, but before we get started, Let’s start from the beginning.
My path to success online has been a long one, and I hope sharing my story inspires you to follow your dreams.
I grew up in Nigeria, a country in West Africa.
If you know Nigeria, you understand it’s a developing nation where many systems are flawed, unemployment is common, and power supply can be unreliable.
Despite these challenges, I refused to let them stop me from seeking success.
I earned a BSc in Economics, but it felt like just a piece of paper because of the dire conditions in the country.
There were times when I was incredibly broke, struggling to afford even a full meal. It was a tough situation!
Starting this blog wasn’t part of my original plan; circumstances led me here over time.
Before blogging, I tried several business ventures in hopes of making quick money, but I learned valuable lessons along the way.
The Beginning
My journey began in early 2017 while I was serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This program is mandatory for graduates in Nigeria and lasts for one year, required to gain certification and employment eligibility.
During this service year, I had ample time to reflect on my life, especially since I had never faced such financial hardship.
My monthly allowance was just $50 — for the whole month! It was a serious situation.
This experience made me realize that my future depended on my actions.
I had to hustle to survive.
I ventured into online business after seeing an ad for affiliate marketing that promised $500 a week.
Gathering funds for the online course was a challenge, but I managed to scrape together some money to enroll.
I was excited during and after the course, expecting to start earning passive income within days.
Reality hit hard once I began; it was far from the easy success the course suggested.
But understanding the potential of online income motivated me to dig deeper.
I started consuming information:
- Free eBooks
- Countless YouTube videos
- Webinars
- Blog articles
- Email newsletters
- And much more…
It was through this research that I realized I needed to start a blog for my affiliate marketing efforts.
However, I initially chose Blogger.com for my blog.
After seeing many attractive blogs, I decided to move to WordPress.org for better customization options.
I had no knowledge of WordPress at the time!
After watching numerous videos on YouTube and trying out various plugins, I finally got my blog up and running.
Almost Giving Up
Remember, I started with zero blogging skills.
I thought that publishing posts with my affiliate links would automatically attract clicks and sales.
Instead, my blog was filled with unrelated articles from various niches.
I struggled to find my footing until I discovered Brian Dean and Neil Patel.
Their blogs were a goldmine of information and helped me align my blog with effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) practices.
For over three months, I worked tirelessly for more than 12 hours a day with no financial returns.
After three months, I stumbled upon dropshipping and fell in love with the model.
I wanted to start right away, but lacked the funds.
So, I poured my energy back into my blog to eventually fund my dropshipping venture.
This effort continued for another four months of exhausting work with no income.
That made it a total of seven months!
At this point, friends teased me about always being on my laptop without seeing any improvement in my finances.
Doubt began to creep in about whether I could actually generate income from my blog.
What Changed?
By the eighth month, I still hadn’t earned anything. I had completed my NYSC and returned home to my parents.
Before the month ended, I landed a job at a telecom company (Airtel), which helped me cover my bills.
Fortunately, that same month, I made my first affiliate sale of $167!
It was incredible!

Just as I was about to give up on the blog, that first sale broke the ice.
My income grew quickly after that, prompting me to leave my job and refocus on my blog. This decision was tough.

My parents were strongly against me quitting my job, but I knew the traditional 9-5 wasn’t for me.
They were upset, but I went ahead and resigned.
Fast forward to now, they are all pleased with my decision, even if they don’t fully grasp how my business operates.
A few months later, I launched my dropshipping business. I created my dropshipping website using WordPress and the AliDropship plugin. After many trials and errors, everything started to work out well.
Currently, I manage two blogs and two dropshipping sites (one for pets and a generic store).
I also run an eCommerce importation business, where I keep product inventory and sell locally in Nigeria (Mini Importation Business).
I find affordable, trending products on AliExpress, buy in bulk, and sell them at a significant markup in Nigeria.
Looking Ahead
Now, I share my online selling experiences to help others avoid the mistakes I made when starting my first online business.
With the knowledge I have now, I could start earning money much quicker.
This blog serves as a platform to share tips, insights, and ideas to help others launch or grow their online ventures.
If I can achieve this without prior experience, I know anyone can succeed with enough determination.
Through this journey, I realized that success is tied to the value you provide.
I believe I can reach more people through this blog and help solve their challenges, which will also lead to greater financial success.
What I Would Do Differently
If I had to start over, I’d focus on building relationships within my business niche.
I made many mistakes due to a lack of guidance and support.
It was just me, YouTube, and countless free articles online.
But now, I understand the importance of community.
Thank you for sticking with me through my story. I hope you found something useful in my experience.

I appreciate your time, and I wish you all the best in your pursuits!
